On Saturday, July 24, during a dramatic day of tournament play-off games for the South Somerset Church League softball teams, your Middlebush Messengers staged a stunning upset victory to win the League Championship!!  It was a day of upsets as the top three seeded teams were all eliminated in first round games.  Eighth-seeded Middlebush won its first game (13-12) against the defending 2009 champs Bunker Hill Lutheran Church, closing out the game with a very close double-play.  Middlebush bats remained alive in a second game 16-11 victory over Evangel Chapel.  Your Messengers faced 7th seeded Faith Lutheran in the tournament finale; MRC defense and offense just got better as the night went on; and the Messengers won the championship game 21-12.  Hats off to our competitors for their great effort and outstanding games.
